Shh Just Got Real & Mom Can We Talk
My purpose for this event is to set a platform for our youth to talk about how they grew up and the challenges they face in school & at home. Plan to have a panel of adults tell their story about how they grew up, whether good or bad, in hopes that it will resonate with our youth. Get them to talk and express themselves! Plan to have resources there just in case needed. From Housing Authority, Health Department, Domestic Violence Shelters, Therapists, etc.
Desired Audience
The youth & our young adults are our target audience, but I'm sure everyone will get something out of this event.
The schools are terrible, these kids are mean and hateful, judgmental, negative & violent. That's because they don't know how to channel disappointment, poverty, drugs, domestic violence, abuse, etc. "It Takes A Village." Let's work together as a community and try to build a platform for these youths to tell their story & not hold it in!! Please share the flier(attached) with whomever you think will benefit from this event. Please invite any young adults and their parents to our upcoming Mom Can We Talk Event. Everyone has a story. If you're ready to tell yours, please give me a call. Thanks.
"I just wanted to follow up with praise for this event. It was such a thoughtful, intentional space to be in and I look forward to many more. I know we all get into this work for so many different reasons, but to be in a room with so many people with stories similar to my own was healing in so many ways.
Thank you for allowing CAPA to be a part of this day. We hope to see you soon!"
"BIG thank you to Ms. Stacy Williams for including me on your line up for your Mom Can We Talk Events.
Being apart honestly was a joy but hard for me. I never gave a thought of ever speaking on my past but encouraged myself to let it out. It was a releasing moment for me and therapeutic. It was touching as well to be of comfort and a listening ear to a youth in need of such. As people say leave the past in the past is what I've always believed until realizing being around others with hidden past lives like myself are a ray of sunlight. Thank you again Ms. Stacy! "
"I enjoyed my time there, I loved the intimacy. Felt like what I was saying was being heard and received, like what I was doing was actually reaching people."
"My name is Shani Howard. I've known Stacy Williams for over 15 years. Stacy has always been outgoing, caring, and energetic.
I started watching Shh Just Got Real podcast on Facebook. I've seen the work and dedication Stacy put into her podcast to help others and the community. Her podcast has educated the community, promoted small businesses, and has brought a variety of entertainment.
When I was asked to help with "Mom Can We Talk", I was elated! As I listened to Stacy describe the purpose and previous events, I was touched by the testimonies and surprised by the outcome. I couldn't wait to see this extraordinary opportunity.
My first event experience was extonishing. I was amazed by the attendance. The outpour from the youth was remarkable. The testimonies were tear jerking, heart warming, and motivating. The participation from the youth were stunning. The food was delectable and the entertainment was pleasurable.
My second event experience was impressive. This particular event included a visit from the Kansas City mayor. The visit also included a radio talk show host. Again, the testimonies, the youth, and the attendance was remarkable.
The foremost important item to me about the events, God is included. With praise dancing and ending in prayer, you know Stacy events are blessed.
I look forward to volunteering in the upcoming "Mom Can We Talk" events and reaching as many youth as we can one event at a time!"
